About Us

The Office of Institutional Partnerships (OIP), part of Georgetown University’s Office of Advancement, assists faculty in seeking and securing support for their programs, projects, and research from corporate, foundation, and association donors. OIP works across the Main, Medical, and Law campuses, including the School of Continuing Studies. Our ultimate aim is to help Georgetown compete for funding, not merely apply for it.

The scope of OIP support varies depending on the foundation, the grant program, the principal investigator, and the submission deadline.

What we do

The OIP team:

  1. Augments and strengthens proposals to make them more competitive by developing strategies for approaching funders and identifying potential internal foundation and corporate advocates
  2. Identifies and distributes grant opportunities and coordinates limited submission opportunities
  3. Reviews and edits proposals and budgets, taking into account the perspective of the ultimate decision-makers: the funders
  4. Saves faculty time and paperwork by contacting foundations/corporations to gauge level of interest and probability of a proposal’s success, providing required documents (e.g., financial statements, IRS 501(c)3 determination letter), conducting donor stewardship, and ensuring that proposal packages are complete and submitted by deadline
