About Us

The Office of Institutional Partnerships (OIP) supports Georgetown faculty and staff on the Hilltop, Medical, and Capitol Campuses as they seek funding from institutional donors such as foundations and corporations. In collaboration with campus partners, we develop strategies to help Georgetown build generative partnerships and secure funding for institutional priorities. Our aim is to initiate and cultivate lasting, mutually beneficial relationships between university partners and institutional philanthropies.

You can download the OIP one-page information sheet as a quick reference about our team and our work.

If you are interested in utilizing OIP’s support services or meeting with the team, please fill out our intake form. Upon completion, your form will be triaged by the OIP team. You will then be contacted to discuss your needs further and outline the next steps for support, which may include follow-up conversations, targeted resource recommendations or content feedback, or invitations to relevant workshops/trainings.

What we do

The OIP team operates in four functional areas:

  • Serve as a key voice for Georgetown in the corporate and foundation relations sector
  • Build relationships with institutional donors (foundations, corporations, associations, and charitable organizations

  • Identify and disseminate funding opportunities, including limited submission opportunities (LSO)
  • Collaborate with Georgetown colleagues to identify priorities and develop strategies for approaching institutional donors
  • Lead training sessions on prospect research and letter of inquiry (LOI) development. Learn more at our Trainings page.

#3 Proposal and Partnership Development

  • Guide faculty and staff through LOI and proposal development processes; collaborate with the Office of Advancement and the Joint Office of Research Administration as needed
  • Review and provide strategic guidance on proposals to maximize appeal for institutional donors
  • Provide knowledge, insights, and framing to ensure alignment with institutional donors’ strategies and goals

#4 Stewardship

  • Foster relationships with existing institutional donors through stewardship activities
  • Advise campus partners on stewardship, engagement, and reporting on philanthropic gifts, grants, and sponsorships to ensure lasting, mutually-beneficial relationships
  • Facilitate follow-up and extended conversations with institutional donors

Who we are
